Jermaine wants to be a doctor so he can help people who suffer like himself.  He is a brilliant 17-year old senior in high school who has a condition called Marfan’s Syndrome. This condition affects all of the connective tissues of the body including the skin, blood vessels, heart, lungs and bones.  He also has a severe kyphoscoliosis deformity of his spine.  His condition has progressed to a point where the extensive surgery he requires would be safer performed in a major medical center in the United States.
